Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

RQF Level 3 Award

1 day / 6 hour course



Enables delegates to become Emergency First Aiders and satisfies HSE requirements.



Upon successful completion and assessment qualification valid for 3 years.


Topics: Legalities; responsibilities & reporting; primary survey; the unconscious casualty; CPR & AED; minor injuries; shock & bleeding: burns; choking; epilepsy.


The Forestry First Aid Module can be added to this 1-day course to cover catastrophic bleeding and the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. 

First Aid at Work (FAW)


RQF Level 3 Award

3 day / 18 hour course



Provides highest level of First Aid qualification meeting Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.


Upon successful completion and assessment qualification is valid for 3 years.


Topics: Legalities, responsibilities and reporting; dealing with unresponsive casualty; primary survey; CPR & AED; choking; bleeding & shock; heart attacks; head injury; stroke; diabetes; asthma; anaphylaxis; epilepsy; limb injuries ; poisoning; eye injuries; chest injuries; and bandaging. 


The Forestry First Aid Module can be added to this 3-day course to cover catastrophic bleeding and the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. 

Emergency First Aid for Schools


RQF Level 3 EFAW Award

1 day course

 


With additional sessions on common childhood conditions e.g. asthma; anaphylaxis; auto-injectors; head and limb injuries; safe administration and management of medicines in school.



For school and pre-school staff who wish to be Emergency First Aiders. Qualification valid for 3 years. Complies with Department for Education & Ofsted requirements.


Includes changes on discretionary arrangements for schools to hold spare auto-injectors (change effective from October 1st 2017).



Paediatric Emergency First Aid (EPFA)

RQF Level 3 Award

1 day / 6 hour course


Suitable for all those caring for babies and young children e.g. schools, pre-schools and child-minders.


Provides delegates with knowledge and practical skills to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations.


Successful completion and assessment leads to a 3 year qualification.


Topics: Role of Paediatric First Aider; Primary Survey; CPR & AED; wounds, bleeding & shock; seizure; choking; minor injuries; recovery position. 


I can provide add-on sessions on Anaphylaxis/ Auto-injectors and Asthma on request. 


Paediatric First Aid (PFA)


RQF Level 3 Award

2 day / 12 hour course


Fulfils requirements for first aid training detailed in Department for Education's statuary framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. 


Day 1 is the same as the Paediatric Emergency First Aid Course.


Upon successful completion and assessment is valid for 3 years.


Topics; Role of Paediatric First Aider; Primary Survey; CPR & AED; wounds, bleeding & shock; seizure; choking; minor injuries; recovery position; fractures; foreign bodies; diabetic emergencies; asthma; meningitis; febrile convulsions; extreme heat and cold; electrical incidents; bites and stings.

Basic Life Support and Defibrillation (AED)

QCF Level 2 Award

4  hour course


Upon successful completion and assessment qualification valid for 3 years. Delegates need to be a minimum age of 16 years to complete the course.


Practical course providing basic life support training with resuscitation and AED training.


Option to "add-on sessions" to provide a bespoke course to meet your needs. 


Topics: Responsibilities & Reporting; Primary Survey; Unresponsive casualty care; Resuscitation; Infection Control; Defibrillation / AED safety & functions. 

First Aid at Work Requalification (FAW)


RQF Level 3 


A 2 day/ 12 hour course to revalidate a First Aid at Work certificate which is due to expire.


Contact me for further information on renewal  if your certification has lapsed for 1-3 months. 


Topics covered are the same as the First Aid at Work course (see above) and include any guideline changes. 





Annual Updates & Medication Training for schools, pre-schools or nurseries



Tailor made sessions to refresh and update on topics such as Basic Life Support, Epilepsy, Asthma & inhalers and Anaphylaxis & Auto-injectors. 


Awareness Training on aspects of managing, administering and storing medicines safely in schools.


I can provide update sessions to incorporate the new changes to arrangements for schools who wish to hold spare Auto-Injectors for their students with Anaphyalxis.

Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis


QCF Level 3 Award


From £45-£75 pp

1 day/ 6 hour course is suitable for anyone caring for those at risk of anaphylaxis; or in high risk areas where emergency medication is available.



Comprehensive and detailed certified course suitable for nurses, dental staff, nursery and school staff and all First Aid staff. 



Includes practical and theoretical sessions on recognising and treating anaphylaxis safely and effectively. 


This qualification lasts for 3 years. 


Outdoor First Aid Course



 QCF Level 3 Award



2 day / 12 hour comprehensive course ideal for those involved in teaching and supervising sports and recreation;  Duke of Edinburgh type courses andanyone working in the outdoors. Valid for 3 years.


Comprehensive course made up of 2 units covering First Aid Essentials as well as the Management of Illness and Injuries in the outdoors. 


Day 1 is similar to the Emergency First Aid at Work. Day 2  topics are: heart attacks & angina; fractures; heat and cold illness; drowning; electrical injuries; head injuries; spinal injuries; minor injuries; asthma and diabetes. Dealing with illness & injury in remote locations is also covered.

Tailor made training for students e.g. Duke of Edinburgh, Health & Social Care students.
